Workshop: Tuber Genome Annotation
From Wednesday, 21. May 2008 -  09:00
To Friday, 23. May 2008 - 17:00

The main aims of this workshop is

  • to establish the current status of the Tuber genome project (i.e., sequencing/assembly, machine annotation, EST/transcriptome, whole-genome arrays),
  • to bring together annotators for discussing the data sets generated by the ab initio machine annotation and whole genome analyses, and
  • train data users to manual curation and comparative genomics tools.

The goal of this workshop
is to train members of the Tuber Genome Consortium and EVOLTREE networks on how to use the basic functions of the Genoscope and INRA Genome Portal for genome analysis and manual curation of predicted genes and functions. Attendees will learn how to navigate through the genome, analyze gene families and pathways, search for genes of interest, evaluate gene structures using available evidence and if necessary change them, and assign gene names and functions. They will also use bioinformatics pipelines for SNP detection. This is a hands-on tutorial using laptop computers; please bring your own laptop.
