Workshop: Estimating gene flow in forest trees
From Monday, 15. June 2009
To Friday, 19. June 2009

The intention of the workshop is to cover the state-of-the art of current methods for estimating gene flow - with special emphasis to forest trees.

The lectures will be given by a number of highly qualified scientists with strong scientific background in the field.

Participants

The workshop is offered for students, post-docs and interested researchers from the partner institutions of EVOLTREE. Registrations will be treated on a first-come first-served basis. The number of attendants is limited to 20 persons. If less than 20 persons register from within EVOLTREE, people from outside the network will also be invited to attend the workshop.

Registration Deadline: May 10th, 2009

No registration fees are planned at the moment.

Program

The workshop will be subdivided into morning and afternoon sessions.

In the morning sessions, lectures will be provided to achieve theoretical knowledge of the methodology and statistical procedures used in gene flow studies.

The afternoon sessions will take place in the computer lab to get to know specific software used for estimation of gene flow. Examples of gene flow studies will be provided for hands-on lessons using the computers. This way each participant will be able to get some training on the available software.

There will be also time for consultations with lecturers on specific topics interested for the participants.
